Missouri regulation 10 CSR 60-11.010 requires community water systems to protect the public water supply from contaminants entering through cross-connections — and Missouri Water Association, Inc. operates under that framework.
Common residential triggers include lawn sprinkler systems, swimming pools, and fire sprinkler systems. At the lake, dock water lines and automatic pool fill valves connected to a home's service line are also common.
All backflow prevention assemblies must be tested at installation and at least annually by a State of Missouri certified tester. Property owners bear all costs for installation, testing, and maintenance. Failure to comply may result in water service being discontinued to protect the integrity of the shared water supply.
Annual deadline: First Monday of August. Submit your inspection report to backflows@mowater.org.
